Illustrated Talk: Controversies in Coal – Internment, Impoundment and Intrigue at Harworth Colliery (1913-1924)

Illustrated Talk as part of the 2017 DH Lawrence Festival of Culture to the Chinemarelian (Kimberley) Historical Society – Controversies in Coal: Internment, Impoundment and Intrigue at Harworth Colliery (1913-1924).  The talk looks at the development and demise of the German Colliery at Harworth during the period 1913-1917 and the subsequent intervention by the Barber Walker Company from Eastwood who took over the second development of the colliery from 1917.  Production commenced in 1924.  Harworth Colliery finished production in 2006, with final abandonment of the mothballed colliery being in 2014.

Admission: A small charge for visitors of £2 on the door. No bookings necessary, just turn up on the night.
